With their team earning the victory at the Ryder Cup 2018 last week, six of the 12 members from the European Team, including Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari and 2018 FedExCup Champion Justin Rose captured victories in 2018 and have qualified to play at this year’s Sentry Tournament of Champions at The Plantation Course at Kapalua.
In his third Ryder Cup appearance, Italy’s Molinari finished with a 5-0-0 record as part of a strong partnership with England’s Tommy Fleetwood and added a singles match victory against Phil Mickelson. With his efforts for the week, he became the first European to go undefeated in Ryder Cup history. Molinari, who captured two victories this year (The National and The Open Championship), finished the season at No. 17 in the FedExCup standings. This will be his second trip to the Sentry Tournament of Champions after finishing T15 in 2011.  McIlroy, who made his fourth Ryder Cup appearance last week, has already committed to make his debut at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Paul Casey, Ian Poulter and Jon Rahm round out the rest of the Team Europe members who have also qualified for the winners-only event following victories this past season.

While their team came up short last week, nine of the 12 members from the U.S. Team: Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson, Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods earned their way to Kapalua when the winners-only event returns to Maui from January 2-6, 2019.
