The annual Tournament of Champions, for winners of previous seasons events, was held in early January at Kapalua’s famed Plantation Course. This was the first year for new sponsor Sentry Insurance and was an event to remember. After entering the final round with a two-stroke lead over Brian Harman, PGA TOUR fan favorite Dustin Johnson carded an 8-under 65 to finish the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions at 24-under 268, good for an eight-stroke victory over John Rahm. The win is Johnson’s second at The Plantation Course at Kapalua, having also won in 2013.
Johnson wins for the 17th time in his 223rd start on the PGA TOUR, doing so at the age of 33 years, six months and 16 days.
With the victory, Johnson collects 500 FedExCup points and moves from No. 25 to No. 2 in standings. Johnson has now won at least one PGA TOUR event in 11 consecutive seasons, dating back to his rookie season in 2008, the longest active streak on TOUR.
