Xander Schauffele made Sunday at the Sentry Tournament of Champions one for the record books, erasing a five-stroke deficit with a course-record 62 on the final day to defeat 54-hole leader Gary Woodland by one shot. Schauffele is no stranger to making final-round heroics, and his masterpiece on Sunday earned him his fourth career victory – and second in a row – making him the first player to qualify for the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions next January. Despite a bogey on the opening hole, Schauffele battled back on a day that featured a different wind direction and calmer conditions than the other three days, leading to some low scores on the beautiful Plantation Course at Kapalua. He charged into contention with an 18-yard eagle hole out on the par-5 9th hole and then a masterful holed wedge from 107 yards on the par-4 12th, the second year the eventual champ has eagled that hole on his way to victory (Dustin Johnson made a two there in 2018). We he tapped in a short birdie putt on the last after reaching the green with two blistering shots, it was enough to best Woodland by a shot, earn his victory and move to No. 1 in the season-long race for the FedExCup.

Save the date for the 2020 Sentry Tournament Champions when it returns to debut the newly refined Plantation Course January 1-5, 2020.
